Novel Nanoscale Refractive Index Sensor Based on Fano Resonance

This paper proposes a novel nano-sized refractive index sensor based on the Fano resonance phenomenon. The main structure consists of two short tubes metal-insulation-metal waveguide and an internal Z-ring resonator. authors used finite element approach to analyze nanoscale sensing performance system. Simulation results show that asymmetries in geometry will lead splitting. explicitly explores whether structure’s top bottom asymmetry is significant factor resonator structure. After splitting, obtained transmission curve was sharper, bandwidth significantly reduced, system’s figure merit improved. further extends field. resulting has sensitivity 2234 nm/RIU 49.65.
